Siza's First Work

The first house
of Fernanda and Fernando
A house that is a testament to the d'Abreu Neto family

A house that marks the beginning of an era and a continuous tribute to those who dreamed, to those who had the vision, to those who executed, to those who preserved.

"Siza before Siza"
The Siza Vieira family were renowned Matosinhos residents and one of their sons was studying architecture at the age of 21, but was not yet an architect. That is why it was only 55 years later that Álvaro Siza Vieira signed the project with the comment “At the time, I couldn’t sign it because I wasn’t an architect yet”. It was during the execution of the project that Siza earned the nickname “Our Architect”. Only this family calls him that. They were the first, and they have the right to do so.

The Casa d'Abreu Neto
May 28, 1957. The house is inaugurated. In 2025, the granddaughter of the first owners transforms the family home into a house with a balcony open to all curious people, lovers of Siza and architecture.

It becomes the Casa d'Abreu Neto.
